The Schunk Group:
The Schunk Group is a globally active technology corporation featuring a broad product and service range for materials and systems technology. The Group's various companies are subdivided into five business sectors, each company acting independently in its respective market, e.g., carbon technology and ceramics, environmental and climate technology, sintered metal technology as well as manufacturing and enamel technology.
The company was founded in 1913 by Ludwig Schunk and Karl Ebe, manufacturing carbon brushes at their Fulda production site. Today, the Schunk Group consits of 70 companies with business locations in 27 countries. It employs 7.320 persons worldwide and recorded over EUR 670 milion of turnover in 2004. Inspired by a passion to perform, Ludwig Schunk turned the Heuchelheim production site into one of the industry's most significant production sites. In 1947, Schunk, who had no children, left his entire estate to the company's employee benefit organisation, thereby setting the cornerstone for the firm's future corporate culture, which places main emphasis on employee interests.
